On Thursday, we will hold our annual speech contest for Ponderosa High students. Always an entertaining to hear these bright, eloquent students speak -- please join us!
The annual Foundation Dinner for Area 6 was held at the Cameron Park Country Club on Mar-14 with Kurt Raffetto (left, from the Placerville club) as the MC. It was a fund-raiser and an encouragement for members to contribute to Rotary International causes such as the Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus. Also helping to lead the festivities was 2024-2025 District 5190 DG Stacy Graham. She handed out a few awards, including one to our Rotary Club of Cameron Park for exceeding our fundraising goal for Polio Plus during the 2023-24 year. Thus, she presented the award to PP Don Fuller (right photo).
- A 50-50 raffle is being conducted for Polio Plus; 50% goes to Polio Plus and 30% cash value to 1st place, 15% cash to 2nd place and 5% cash to 3rd place. Our members Suzy O’Neal and JoEllen Brooks did a great job of selling tickets to the 50-50 raffle, which raised $550 for Polio Plus.
The dinner buffet catered by the Country Club was great as usual. After dinner we were inspired and entertained by Rotary Member Jim Pelley. A former stand-up comedian and contributing writer for the original Saturday Night Live Show, Jim has left 'em laughing for more than 18 years at over 1,600 top organizations. With his hilarious way of poking fun at the frustrations of everyday life, Jim Pelley (left) demonstrates how to use humor to become more creative, more productive, and less stressed. Jim also applied his Rotary experience to give us tips on how to attract more members and to inspire us to give to the Rotary Foundation.
Tom Elken: Club polo shirts have been shipped. They should be delivered well before April 1st.
