At our last meeting, there was an Annual Meeting to elect officers and board members for the 2024-25 year, and a (first time ever for our club?) White Elephant gift exchange. A nominating committee consisting of two past-presidents, the current president, and the president-elect made nominations for President and the Board of directors. The committee nominated President Cathy to serve a second term, and the members re-elected her by a unanimous voice vote. The Nominating Committee recommended the following nominees for officers and board members: Vice-President: Dan Gott; Secretary: Bill Ettlich; Treasurer: Janet Yarbrough; Membership: Adam Marshall (mentored by Anne Eckert); Public Image: Tom Elken; International: Dave Sargent; Community: Joe Ryan; Programs: DeBORaH Demander (mentored by Marlyn Pino-Jones); Youth: Sid Bazett; Past President: Don Fuller; Rotary International Foundation: Bill Hughes. Nominations from the floor were entertained, but none were forthcoming. By a unanimous voice vote, this slate of Board members was approved by the members. After the voting on the Board, the White Elephant gift exchange was led by President Elect and Master of Cermony (MC) DeBORaH. Wrapped white elephant gift were brought from home, including 5 extra from DeBORaH Demander and 1 extra from Tom Elken were brought to cover members who forgot to bring one. DeBORaH did a great job of raising the level of fun with this adventure of a club-first white elephant exchange. The photo above shows Tiffany McAchran opening her gift (A Christas sign), with help from MC DeBORaH. At right, Adam Marshall is shown experiencing part of his Odyssey in search of a bottle of wine. He stole a bottle of Malbec from Suzy O'Neal, which was subsequently stolen from him. This photo may be him opening a bottle of red wine from Fair Play, which was also stolen from him by Greg Wood (which Adam didn't view as a very "Fair Play"). He then opened a gift bag with a white wine, which was in turn stolen from him. He wound up with a DVD-based "Scene It" game which he hoped would work with an old PC of his with that kind of drive. What a fun way to start off the 2024 New Year with a bang! |
