We have a very special program for our first meeting of 2018. Diane Wilkinson, our caterer for special events and luncheons outside of the Country Club, is a food lover and expert. She has been catering for over 14 years and serves a diversity of clientele. If Diane is not in her kitchen working on a new recipe, she is out in her 1/4 acre, all-organic garden planting and picking for dishes. She resides in her lovely foothill Placerville home.
Diane has taken off with expert advice and training from food professionals Jacques Pépin and Paula Wolfert. Additionally, she has taken wine studies with Darrell Corti, Hall of Fame vintner, and David Berkley who started David Berkley’s Fine Foods. Since her formal training, she has expanded and grown, especially as an early proponent for green catering. A self- proclaimed locavore, Diane despises waste and loves local and organic!
Diane has been a supporter of our Rotary Club. Most recently, she prepared a delicious meal for the luncheon honoring Rotarian Mike Collom who passed away, and also contributed $1,000 to the CP Rotary Community Foundation designated to the Rasmussen Fund.
On a hot day in August with a 7 mph wind, studies have shown a fire can reach Cameron Park from El Dorado Hills in just six minutes. Lives were lost in Santa Rosa because residents weren't adequately prepared to evacuate quickly from a fire. Prior planning and preparation is important. Sheryl's presentation focused on how to prepare to "get-out-fast" in a hurry in case of a fire, or "stay put" if necessary if another type of emergency such as an earthquake or power outage occurs. She provided tips and handouts on how to plan and be prepared for emergencies.
- Introduced our server for the day, John Hedmeck. John thanked the Rotary Club for his vocational scholarship and gave us an update on his studies for becoming an x-ray technician. He is doing very well in the 2 year program and is very grateful for our club's assistance.
- Announced that David Crofut accepted the nomination as President-Nominee, and introduced new proposed slate of officers and committee chairs: Rich Grieco, VP; Bill Ettlich, Secretary; Dick Franks, Treasurer; Don Fuller, Foundation; Joe Ryan, Community Service; Roger Hassler, International; Laurie Edwards, Vocational; Ben Young, Youth; Mike Dugan, membership/PR;Bill Hughes, Club Services. Membership voted; all were approved for their respective positions. Tiffany Trivera was elected President-Elect last year.
- Distributed a photo of the Rotary Float that will be in this year's Rose Parade.
- Distributed thank you letters from 3rd grade students at Charter Home Study Academy for their dictionaries.

Dave Sargent - Provided an updated report on the Christmas dinner, and auctioned two unsold gifts.
