Next Meeting: April 26, 2018 @ 5-7 p.m.-- Community Showcase
This week's evening meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cameron Park Community Center, 2502 Country Club Drive. It is a joint Chamber Mixer and Showcase Luau proudly hosted by the Cameron Park CSD, Rotary Club of Cameron Park and the Shingle Springs/Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce. There is no lunch meeting.

This fun event will feature a community job fair, numerous non-profits and businesses, music, food and beverages, raffle prizes and a cash drawing. The Valley Ukelele Society and CSD Hula Classes will also perform. The Boy Scouts will bring their pinewood derby track and we will see our club’s car, “Cameron Park Thunder” designed and built by Chuck LePere, race for the first time in preparation for the District Conference race. Janelle Horne will also be presented her blue badge.
Last Week:  CASA lunches and Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp
After enjoying a delicious box lunch from CASA as a fund raiser, members learned about the Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp from Paul Zappettini and student Cassie who is in her 7th year as a participant. In the past, the Cameron Park Rotary Club has assisted monetary, and by helping with set up and take down of the camp. Paul encourages members to again join Kiwanis and Placerville and Pollock Pines Rotarians for camp setup on July 14 and breakdown on July 28.

Cassie first thanked us for selecting her to participate in Camp RYLA, which she is very excited to attend. She then spoke about her life changing experiences as a Sugarloaf participant. Kids at Sugarloaf can be themselves in a very kind and patient learning environment with art, music, photography and theater classes. Participants leave the camp with a welcoming open attitude, greater kindness, and increased community involvement. She showed us some of her art and photography from Sugarloaf. After graduating from high school, Cassie’s goal is to return to the camp as teacher or advisor.

Welcome Matthew Lopez
Last week membership chair Mike Dugan and sponsor Ben Young welcomed Matthew Lopez as our newest corporate member.  He will represent Astute Wealth Management in Cameron Park.  Matt previously served the community of Portola as an active Rotarian.  He has already attended the District Assembly this month.  He looks forward to service projects and the fun energy in our club.  Welcome, Matthew!
