Community Projects

The Rotary Club of Cameron Park is involved in a large number of activities in our community. Here is a partial list of Rotary Service projects:

  • Provide ongoing support for the Cameron Park Rotary Community Observatory, a project completed in 2006. The Observatory was donated to the El Dorado County Office of Education.
  • In 2010, began the construction of an amphitheater, the "Star Theater", adjacent to the observatory. This project is still being expanded!
  • In 2010 we completed the fundraising effort to raise $100,000 in matching funds to create a $200,000 Endowment fund to provide local high schools with numerous vocational and trade school related scholarship awards.
  • In 2012 we continued our annual participation with other local Rotary Clubs in an event called "Christmas in April", a Rotary at Work project. We team up with the Salvation Army and ring bells in front of stores. We raise between $4,000 and $5,000 annually with this event for the local Salvation Army and will continue this event in the future.
  • In 2011, participated with the Soroptimist International of Cameron Park for the third year in the 21st Annual Show 'N' Shine event held at the Cameron Park airport. Proceeds from this fundraising event are divided between the Soroptimist and Rotary Clubs.
  • In 2010, sponsors an ongoing Job Seeker program helping over 100 local residents to date to develop skills needed for finding a job in this difficult economy. The Rotary Club of Cameron Park is the lead organization for a consortium of three local Rotary Cubs and four local churches.
  • The Rotary Club of Cameron Park coordinates yearly, a Rotary Work Project with three other local Rotary Clubs. The project involves the set up and take down of the the Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp. The labor provides a savings of over two thousand dollars, which the camp directors can apply to scholarships to fine arts student campers.
