Members greeted incoming District 5190 Governor, Anita Daniels and her husband John. DG visit all of the clubs in the district and Cameron Park was the first one to be visited. The visit began at 10:00 am at the County Club with DG Anita sitting down with the Board to catch up on the many activities of the club. Reports came from: Acting Club Service Chair Marlyn Pino-Jones, Community Service Chair Joe Ryan, Treasurer Roger Hassler, International Service Chair Dave Sargent, Youth Services Chair Ben Young, Scholarship Committee members Anne Eckert and Jim Buckley, Foundation Chair Roger Hassler, Secretary’s Report Bill Ettlich, Membership Anne Eckert, Public Relations Chair Tom Elken by Mike Dugan as Tom was out of town, and finally the Community Needs Assessment by Mike Dugan. A lively Q&A happened and DG Anita provided good advice about our many projects and programs.
The regular meeting began at noon with Front Desk: Jim Buckley, Greeter: Steve Long and Words of Wisdom: Jim Buckley. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Don Fuller. We had over 30 people in attendance, including Marlyn Pino-Jones best friend, Gary Clarke’s wife and daughter, Dwight Bentz’s wife, Rev. Andrew Davis who is transferring from the Quincy Rotary to our club, and one of our former scholarship recipients, Melissa, introduced by Dave Sargent.
DG Anita Daniels and President Mike Dugan introduced ten new and present Paul Harris Fellows that included: Tom Elken +3, Bill Gallant +4, Greg Wood new PHF, Bill Hughes +5, Joe Ryan +2, Laurie Edwards +3, Dave Sargent +2, Dave Tavernetti, +6, Don Fuller +1, and Vickie Christensen +3. We now have 35 PHF out of our 42 active members or 85% participation. Next, the four new members who joined the club in the last year were honored and given their new member packets and badges by Membership Chair Anne Eckert, including Marlyn Pino-Jones, Gary Clarke, Dwight Bentz, and Robb White.
Several awards were presented to members including: Quiet Rotarian: Tom Elken Heart of Rotary: Anne Eckert Rotary Certificate Plaques for the Bicycle Project to Joe Ryan, Steve Long and Dave Crofut.
DG Anita Daniels was our speaker and talked about goals for the coming year, particularly in expanding membership and encouraging every member to bring at least one guest to a meeting. She also auctioned off a custom box of candy, that was won by Jim Buckley for $225 for Polio Plus. |
