Last week's meeting was a joint Chamber Mixer and Showcase Luau proudly hosted by the Cameron Park CSD, Rotary Club of Cameron Park, the Shingle Springs/Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce, Channel 2 Sierra Access Television and the Cameron Park Community Foundation. This fun evening event featured a community job fair, numerous non-profits and businesses, music, food and beverages, raffle prizes, a cash drawing and performances by the Valley Ukelele Society and CSD Hula Classes. The Cub Scouts brought their pinewood derby track. Cameron Park Thunder, designed and built by Chuck LePere, raced for the first time (by Mark Scott) alongside Past President's Vickie Christensen's derby car. Based on the race results, it is anticipated both will be faster than lighting for the District Conference competition. At the event, Janelle Horne became the newest Cameron Park Rotary Club member to claim her Blue Badge for completing all requisite orientation activities. Janelle quickly became involved in committee work, in addition to serving at the front desk, being a greeter and providing Words of Wisdom. She gave a rousing speech about Rotary!
