Next week - Music Contest (April 5, 2018)
The Youth Instrumental Music Contest is one of our favorite meetings each year where high school students demonstrate their talent and love for music. Prize money will be awarded at each level of competition: our club contest, Rotary area contest, and the District conference at the Atlantis in Reno. The talent of our local student musicians is incredible.
Last week -Placerville CHP
Two of CHP's finest, Community Outreach Officer Rob Smith, and Community Resource / Public Information Officer Andrew Brown, provided an update on their programs and services, and spoke about the ripple effect of motorists driving while impaired whether it is alcohol, prescription medication or illegal drugs. Both officers are drug recognition experts. The Placerville CHP has a grant from the Commissioner's office to help combat local DUI accidents with education and extra enforcement.  Many questions from Rotarians were answered during their presentation.

This year's programs Officers Smith and Brown are coordinating include "Every 15 Minutes" (at three local high schools), "Age Well, Drive Smart," Bicycle Safety Rodeo, and Kids Expo. Officers Smith and Brown also are in charge of the office's social media posts.  Thank you for your service, and for being an integral part of our community!
Rotarians at Work

On Tuesday, March 27th while the rest of the club was transporting bicycles, Jim Buckley put out a plea to the general membership to help paint the new railing and gunite seats in the Sky Theater. The Rotary Club of Cameron Park got the job done with assistance from several docents and members Dave Sargent, Jim Buckley, Art Cort, Ulla Peterson, Dick Franks, and Bill Gallant. Pictured are our "Rotarians at Work" in the newly painted Sky Theater, and "Beagle Bob" Edwards (a driving force in the development of the entire Observatory project) in front of the completed Solar Dome.
