Next Meeting, Jul-11:  Tom Elken, Public Image Chair, Isabella A., our RYLA Candidate, and Induction of New Officers
Rotary Club of Cameron Park’s Public Image Chair Tom Elken has been working hard taking inventory of our signs in the community and determining which signs need updating and replacing.  He will share his findings and recommendations with us.

Our outstanding RYLA candidate, Isabella A., will also share with us her life changing experiences participating in this year's leadership camp between June 16-21.  Isabella will be a senior next year at UMHS.

President Cathy Dugan will recognize her last board, and induct new officers for 2024-2025.
Last meeting, Jun-27:  SSA Zeitlin, FBI -- Counter-Terrorism and Public Corruption
Jonathon Zeitlin is a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) with the FBI, currently assigned to the Sacramento Division.  He investigates and oversees investigations pertaining to civil rights, fraud against the government, and public corruption.  Despite technical difficulties preventing his PowerPoint presentation, he adeptly described the FBI's investigative role. One of his favorite assignments, while working in Public Affairs, was helping John Walsh launch, “The Hunt with John Walsh” on CNN.

During his tenure in the Los Angeles Division, he initiated the highly successful Inland Regional Corruption Task Force, comprising of multiple law enforcement agencies, which exposed vast city corruption.  He answered numerous questions, and promises to return for his postponed PowerPoint presentation.

Ice Cream Social at the Observatory
Just a brief reminder that we, Placerville and Pollock Pines Rotary Clubs are hosting an ice cream social for youth from our Sister City in Warabi, Japan, and their host families at the Observatory on Monday, July 29, 2024, 8-11 PM.  Rotarians and their families are invited.  Guests just pay $2 per vehicle for parking at the college.

Please let Laurie Edwards know by July 11th whether you plan to participate and if so, the number of guests.  We need to have an accurate count to make sure we have enough docents, and ice cream!

The Japanese students feel that this event will be one of the highlights of the exchange.  Let’s give them a warm Rotary welcome!

West Africa Project Fair, Oct 29 - Nov 5
Past RI Director Brad Howard notified member Laurie Edwards that Howard Tours is planning a Rotarian trip to Ghana for the 2024 Rotary West Africa Project Fair and Family Health Days Program from October 29 - November 5.  There are still several openings if you wish to join the Rotary Tour.

This tour was specially created in partnership with the West African Rotarians and The Rotary Action Group for Family Health & AIDS Prevention (RFHA) to offer a chance to witness Rotary’s impact on West Africa.  The West Africa Project Fair is an ideal venue to learn about, and find opportunities for bona fide international service projects.  The Fair is designed to develop connections between the African and North American Rotarians to generate greater support of the projects of Africa.

During the time in Ghana, Rotarians will volunteer at a Family Health Days program modeled after The Rotary Action Group for Family Health & AIDS Prevention, Inc. (RFHA).  This organization works across Africa and India to provide free quality health resources to people who would otherwise fall between the cracks to critical care during a one day health camp.

This unique journey is designed to give you an extraordinary experience in travel and Rotary friendship.  The size of our group is limited, and they typically fill up quickly.   For more information, please go to Howard Tours website: www.howardtours.net.
