Please join us this Thursday for lunch at the Country Club at noon. We have a special guest, Ryan Jantsen from the Folsom Rotary Club who will speak about their leadership program for high school students. Don Fuller and Laurie Edwards recently attended this program and found it to be outstanding! The Folsom club has sponsored this program for 29 years and this year the event was also sponsored by the El Dorado Hill Rotary Club and Placerville Rotary Club. Green Valley Community Church hosted the event here in El Dorado County.
Ryan Jantzen joined the Rotary Club of Folsom in 1994. He is a past president of Folsom Rotary and has served many Board positions for his club. He loves triathlon training and cold plunging and has a passion for service and connecting with others. Ben is a Northern California native who, with his wife Lacey, is raising two children in the foothills of El Dorado County, CA. He discussed crypto currencies, such as Bitcoin, that is owned by 22% of American households. He warned against the use of these currencies because their programming can be duplicated too easily, the value is uncertain and based only on supply and demand, and ultimately investment in these currencies is too risky.

Past President Ian Marshall, asked the club to help purchase Defibrillators for the Country Club based on an unfortunate heart attack at the far end of the golf course that, sadly, ended in death. The devices cost about $1,000 each and Mike Dugan conducted an auction to buy one. Mike and Cathy Dugan, Don Mai, DeBORaH Demander, Adam Marshall, Bob Dorr, Marlyn Pino-Jones, Dave Sargent, Ben Young/Rene Villanueva and Teresa Utterback all contributed $100. Tom Elken bid $200 to make a total of $1,100.
