Laurie Edwards began her career in the criminal justice system at age 17 as a part-time dispatcher while attending college. After graduating from CSUS and the police academy in 1982, she became the first women police officer and detective for Placerville Police Department. Then, she worked as a deputy probation officer for El Dorado County until her retirement in 2010. Since retiring, she has a new focus: photography and travel. She works part-time as a freelance photographer for the Mountain Democrat and volunteers her photography skills for Sierra Access Community Television in El Dorado County.
Laurie previously served as president of the El Dorado Hills Rotary Club and Assistant Governor in district 5180. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Cameron Park in district 5190, and is the club’s Foundation and PolioPlus Chair. Laurie will speak about her passion, the Rotary Foundation. She promises it will be heartfelt, and there may even be a mystery trip involved.
Melissa Lobach began working for American River Conservancy (ARC) in 2016 with the primary role of planning WakamatsuFest150. For the Conservancy, she has managed fundraising, event planning, marketing and communications, volunteer programs, grant writing, and on-site improvement projects. She is a certified California Naturalist and Certified Interpretive Guide with an extensive background in training, instructional design, and project management. Since 2011, she has been a docent at Wakamatsu Farm where she has led countless public and private tours.
ARC's mission is to promote healthy ecosystems within the Upper American River and Upper Cosumnes watersheds. 1) The watershed conservation is to protect wildlife habitat, farmland, recreational spaces through land purchases, donations and conservation easements. 2) Regarding land stewardship, ARC manages over 11,000 acres with activites: water quality management, meadow restoration, trail building and maintenance, blue bird nesting boxes and training people in land stewardship. 3) Environmental education is also an important part of the mission -- so far this education has been delivered to over 30,000 people.
Don Fuller: 1) Several members who traveled to Nicaragua have put together a grant application to the District for a water project at Calle Real. Already have positive feedback from the District.

Happy (or Not) Bucks
Laurie Edwards-$5 Happy that while turning in paperwork for a background check to photograph our bicycle project, one of the Folsom Prison correctional officers told me that he was a RYLA Camp graduate years ago.
Gary Gall-$25 Happy that he has had success in treating his disease with an herbal remedy.
Steve Long - $10 Happy in anticipation that he will get enough people to come to his driveway after the meeting to paste labels into dictionaries for 3rd graders. [In fact there were at least 8 that helped him after the meeting.]
