Please join us this week, 12:15 - 1:30 PM on Thursday Apr-25, for a very special tour of the El Dorado County Sheriff Office at 200 Industrial Drive, Placerville including lunch with Sheriff Jeff Leikauf. We will hear about the state of law enforcement in EDC in 2024 and be able to view this magnificent new facility.
Reesa Osterhoudt (left) is the Branch Manager of the Cameron Park Library, part of the El Dorado County Library System. Reesa was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to Folsom with her young family in 2019. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from San Jose State University and has been happily working in the library field ever since a career change in 2017.
Luanne LePere is the daughter of long-time Rotarian, Chuck LePere. Luanne moved to Cameron Park with her young family in 1992. She has been a docent with the Community Observatory since its inception in 2006. She retired in 2020 and started volunteering for Friends of the Library- Cameron Park branch. She is currently serving as their treasurer and chairperson of the Book Sale efforts which are the primary source of funds for our gifts to the library.
Reesa spoke with support from Luann. She described a surprisingly large array of programs that are held at the library and a large variety of stuff that can be checked out from the library. She encouraged us to pick up a paper calendar of events at the Cameron Park Library to see the variety of groups, events and programs that take place there. Here's an online version of that calendar which shows even more events. There is a Grandparents Connections Day on May 9th. Each Friday morning there is a reading for children called "Mother Goose on the Loose." There is a Chess Club that meets each Wednesday at 3pm with an excellent chess coach/teacher. There is a Poets and Writers workshop at 5:30 on Thursday May 16. And finally, there is a Book Club Bag that can be checked out for 6 weeks with 8 copies of a good book and discussion questions. This just scratches the surface on all the programs and materials that can be checked out from our local library.
Luanne added a pitch for the Friends of the Library for those who would like to volunteer or donate to support the programs and materials at the CP Library.
