Next Meeting, Feb-09-2023: Tonya D. DiGiorno, Director of IT at ED County,

Tonya Digiorno is a graduate of Sacramento State University and has been a public servant of the state of California since 1994, and Director of IT for El Dorado County since 2019.  Being a minority woman in Information Technology, she has developed a gift of perceiving challenges as her next opportunity for growth.  Through hard work and perseverance, her career has provided a solid background in a wide range of responsibilities, and has excelled her from a student intern, growing as an individual, to a team member, peer, lead, supervisor, and manager onto executive level leadership.

As a highly motivated and energetic individual, she continues to carry a passion for education and innovation.  Her extensive experience in leadership and project management will contribute to her continued success of delivering comprehensive and cost effective solutions and building dynamic, creative, and motivated teams.

Last Meeting: Feb-02-2023: Dr. Melinda Keenan: Center for Post Traumatic Growth
Dr. Melinda Keenan spoke on her work for the Center for Post Traumatic Growth. She is a licensed psychologist in California. Dr. Keenan earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver in 2000. Dr. Keenan and her colleagues have presented on Moral injury, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. They published a book for Veterans, First Responders and Medical Personnel entitled Understanding & Healing Moral Injury in People of Service.

Melinda first told us the definition of Moral Injury, which is not the same as PTSD - Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  It is something that happens to some people when in service to others, they have to do something which breaks their code of moral values.  Moral Injury (MI) and PTS map to different parts of the brain.  The two conditions need different types of interventions to address the different conditions or we risk doing harm.  Very few interventions have been proposed for directly addressing MI.
