Stories
Next Week, Nov-21-2019:  Shiva Frentzen, Board of Supervisor District II
Shiva and her husband, Jeff, have lived in Cameron Park for over 25 years, and raised their son and daughter here. Shiva holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Computer Science, as well as a Master’s in Computer Science from California State University, Sacramento. She has been in the technology field for over 25 years, and a business leader in EDC for more than a decade.  She is a long-term member of the Rotary Club of Cameron Park, and is Past President.

Shiva is an elected member of the EDC Board of Supervisors, District II. Her second term ends in January of 2021.  She will recap her years on the BOS and offer her observations about the experience.

Last Week, Nov-14-2019:  Lily and Cindy Bennett, AKC Junior Showmanship

Last week was a fun meeting when Lily and her mother, Cindy, brought their two show dogs to demonstrate how AKC Junior competitions are judged.

Lily, 14, currently shows 4 main breeds: Cirneco Dell’ Etna (Hound), Wirehaired Pointing Griffon (Sporting), Standard Manchester Terrier (Terrier) and Belgian Tervuren (Herding).  She is very successful; a record holder for being the youngest competitor to win back-to-back Best of Shows and is ranked #9 nationally. In December and February, she will travel to Florida and New York to compete for scholarships in the two largest national AKC Junior Dog Shows.

Lily’s great grandfather also holds a record. At 100, he was the oldest Rotarian to serve as club president. Lily’s follows his lead in service. She volunteers for Angel on Wheels Toy Drive, JDRF and Wagon Angels.  Thank you Lily!
Dictionary Project

President Dave, Steve Long, Bob Dorr, Bill Ettlich, Greg Wood and Laurie Edwards delivered, “A Student’s Dictionary and Animal Gazette” to enthusiastic 3rd graders at Blue Oak School on November 12. Club members visited the classrooms to hand each student his/her personal dictionary with a label attached to the inside cover showing the student’s name and the Rotary 4-Way Test.

Third grade students from Blue Oak, Buckeye, Green Valley, Latrobe, and Rescue Elementary Schools; and California Montessori, Holy Trinity Parish School and EDCOE home school program have or will receive dictionaries this year.  It is anticipated nearly 400 dictionaries will be distributed.

Four volunteers are needed for the next distribution date on December 3 at 12:45 p.m. at Green Valley School. If you can volunteer for this very rewarding project, please contact Steve Long ASAP.
