Jordan Brushia is a Program Coordinator for El Dorado County Area Aging Agency, (AAA). The AAA assists older adults and their families with resources and solutions, supporting a fuller, happier, healthier life. On Sept. 7, 2023 at noon, we enjoyed a fantastic catered lunch from Old Town Grill at Cameron Park Lake. With the help of the Cameron Park CSD who we partnered with on this project, we christened the "Rotary Pier," a renovation project our members recently completed. The planks of the pier were completely replaced and the railings were removed, sanded, repainted and reattached. THis was completed while the Lake had limited access due to its entrance bridge being rebuilt. In the middle of this photo, there is a permanent sign reading: "Rotary Pier", another project by the Rotary Club of Cameron Park.
There was a great lunch catered by John Sanders, of The Old Town Grille of Placerville, with his well-behaved parrot also providing entertainment.
Also, two members of the Cameron Park CSD staff received their Red Badges indicating membership in our club. In the photo below, we have, from the left: President Cathy; Jim Mog, CC&R Compliance Officer; member and CSD Board Chair Sid Bazett; Mike Grassle, Parks & Facilities Superintendent; and Kimberly Vickers, Recreation Supervisor at the CSD. The new corporate members are Jim and Mike.
Joe Ryan: Last Saturday, we participated in the Boy Scout/Cub Scout Bicycle Rodeo and Safety Check at Blue Oak Elementary School. We had 10 refurbished bikes and helmets there and ready for any kid who did not have a bike yet wanted to participate
Laurie Edwards: Save the Date! On Thursday October 5th our club's meeting will be a program at the Community Observatory starting at 6:30pm. All Rotary Clubs on the West SLope are invited. That night there will be optimum viewing conditions for Jupiter and Saturn.
David Sargent: Short organizational meeting of the Christmas Party Committee after today's meeting.
Cathy Dugan: On Sept. 29-30, we are supporting the Veterans Standdown event in Placerville. All those who signed up to help, please be ready for that.
Mike Dugan: Several of you received an email invitation to a District 5190 Donor Recognition Dinner on October 5th at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, NV. Please strongly consider attending thos event to celebrate your generosity to the Ukrain Mobile Medical units or other Rotary Foundation causes.
