Dave Sargent presided over the annual meeting of the Cameron Park Rotary Community Foundation. Anne Eckert confirmed that a quorum was achieved, and the 2021 meeting's minutes were approved. Next, three members of the current Board -- Anne Eckert, Ben Foulk and Gary Gall -- agreed to stand for reelection for three positions, and no opposition ran against them. The three were reelected unanimously. Ben Foulk came forward and reflected on the life and achievements of Darrel Rasmussen, originator of the idea, and provider of $100,000 in matching funds, for an endowment fund to fund vocational grants. Dave Sargent provided some background on 4 of the 5 grant winners from the past year and introduced Maryjane Garder to us. Maryjane got up and spoke a few words about her plans for cosmetology school and to get a business degree at Folsom Lake College and gave us her thanks.
Dave told us that the Rasmissen Endowment fund balance is now at $230,000 and thanked us for our donations to keep that fund strong.
Bill Ettlich: Told of his trip to Washington state and a nice lunch with former member Bill Hughes and his wife Cathe..
Steve Long: On Sept. 10th please join a work party of our members to clean-up a former homeless camp described by Jeff Leikauf. This would be a community improvement activity which will not cost the Club any money. Steve is guessing there will be media coverage which will be good advertising for CP Rotary, especially if we wear our Rotary shirts, hats, etc. The event will start at the east end of Palmer Drive just past Ponte Palmero Senior facility at 7:30 AM on Saturday, September 10. There will be coffee and snacks provided by a couple of Cameron Park businesses. Anybody planning to attend should bring a shovel, rake, etc. and gloves.
Don Fuller: Described more about the DG Jeff Daniels visit on Sept. 1.
Guests:
Maryjane Garder: VocationalGrant winner, guest of Dave Sargent
