Next Meeting,  July 8, 2021:  DG Anita Daniels Visits our Club
Our new District Governor, Anita Daniels, honors us with her first club visit of the year.  This year's Rotary International theme is "Serve to Change Lives."  We will hear more about the theme and the exciting plans that District Governor Anita Daniels has planned for this Rotary year.  Anita will present Paul Harris Fellow pins* to Greg Wood, Bill Gallant, and Joe Ryan and acknowledge Bill Hughes for his PHF.  In addition, she will present the Quiet Rotarian and the Heart of Service Awards.  Let's give her a warm Rotary Club of Cameron Park welcome!

Anita joined Rotary in 1994 in District 5180, with the Rotary Club of Marysville. In 1995 she transferred to District 5190 and the Rotary Club of Grass Valley, when her employer transferred her to Grass Valley.  At the club level she has served as Club Director, Foundation chair, International chair, Membership chair, Club Service chair, and Facilities chair. She served as Club President in 2011-2012. At the District level she has served as Group Study Exchange chair, Alumni chair, served on the Grants committee, House of Friendship co-chair under the District Conference committee, and as co-chair of Sergeant-at-Arms. Currently she is the Assistant Governor for Area 4.

* Tom Elken will be on vacation and have his presented at a later date.
Last Meeting,  July 1, 2021:  Mike Dugan:  Welcome Back!
The July 1st meeting was mainly a celebration of being back together after the (bulk of the) pandemic so we could socialize and eat together.  President Mike told us in some detail about the Agenda of the July 8th meeting with DG Anita Daniels (see story above), including the Paul Harris Fellow awards and new member presentations.

To help us all get reacquainted and up-to-date, Mike asked us to pass the mic around the room and tell others of some of our activities and accomplishments (Rotary or otherwise) during the past 18 months.  Some of the Rotary activities included:  continued progress of the bicycle program despite challenges of the pandemic and a search for new bicycle refurbishers at the prison; finding and awarding 10 students (the most ever) from Ponderosa High for our $2,000 scholarships; planning and holding a St. Patrick's Day (with Mexican food) fund-raiser; continuing the 3rd grade dictionary program; contributing to the construction of a sports court and playground at a community center in Nicaragua; and finding at least 4 new members.  Non-rotary activities included: shedding substantial poundage by several; completing constructive projects around home; golf, hiking and other activities to stay fit; a small amount of travel;  keeping businesses afloat during challenging times; and sadly for the rest of us, several members moving out of state or out of the Western Slope area.
