Andre Pichly, the new General Manager of the Cameron Park CSD, who is also a new Corporate member of our club, gave us an overview of the current activities and responsibilities of the CSD. He talked about the new plan for renovations and improvements for the CSD that will include many opportunities for projects in which we can participate. Andre has a M.S. in Recreation, Parks and Tourism, 32 years of public service in parks and recreation, and 19 years of teaching experience at Sacramento State. He is happy to have an industrious and innovative staff. Recently they found a way to repair the pool for $8K rather than the initial estimate of $20K. The annual budget of the CSD is $6.6M with the largest part (2/3) of the budget going to fire services they contract through CalFire. Other major areas that the CSD manages are: Parks and Facilities; Recreation and Special Events; CC&R Enforcement; ARC; and Solid Waste Disposal and Recycling. A big project on the near-term horizon is a new $1.2M project to install a splash pad play area at the lagoon of Cameron Park Lake. They are applying for a grant from the state that may pay for 50% of the cost. Andre encouraged us to attend the June 25 Fireworks Spectacular at the CP Lake. We also had a report and training session for our Wine Fest event coming up at the County Fair on June 16-19, 2022 from our President-Elect Don Fuller. |
