At the last meeting we had our Annual Music Contest with Ponderosa High School students competing for prize money and the chance to advance to the district contest. The music coach and four contestants came to join us for lunch and to play their instruments for us. The music played was: - "Time" by Hans Zimmer, played on piano by Nathan
- "Concerto #1 in B major" by Mozart, played on flute by Kiley
- "Hit the Road Jack" by Ray Charles, played on trumpet by Alex
- "Mad Man Moon," by Genesis, played on piano by Brook
The Pondo students put their hearts and souls into these performances. All four performances were excellent and all four were winners. The judges selected Brook as the 1st place finisher, winning $250; Nathan was 2nd, winning $150; Kiley was 3rd, winning $100; and Alex won $75. Members were a bit frustrated that they had to hold their applause until the end but gave the students a rousing ovation at the end. |
